There is no specific law governing HR consultants in India. However, HR consultants are subject to the general laws that govern all businesses in India, such as the Indian Contract Act, 1872 and the Companies Act, 2013.
In addition, HR consultants must comply with the various labour laws and regulations that apply to their clients. For example, HR consultants who advise clients on employment matters must be familiar with the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
HR consultants should also be aware of the ethical guidelines that apply to their profession. The Indian Society for Human Resource Management (ISHRM) has developed a Code of Ethics for HR Professionals, which provides guidance on the ethical standards that HR consultants should uphold.
